Who Is Eligible?
YSU studentship, PHD students, applicants and professorial staff has got the right to apply for YSU Library services.
Representatives from other HEI are provided with this opportunity, too, but according to the order, defined by the Library authorities.

How to apply for a Library Card?
To become the reader or subscriber of YSU Library the following documents must be presented to the Circulation Department:
1.a copy of passport with your address
2.two photos in 3x4 size
*for students and PHD students
3.reference by Dean's Office
4.tuition payment receipt (if paid basis)
*for professorial staff
4.reference from the Human Resources Department, where the deadline of his/.her business contract must be given
Library Card Rules
- The reader's card gives the reader a right to use the services offered by the library. It is given for a certain period of time depending on the reader's university status.
4 years for bachelor students
2 years for master students
3 years for the post-graduates
For the lecturers it depends on the duration of their job agreement
The library services for applicant are available only in reading halls, for which they must have temporary reading cards
Temporary employers or deputy employers have no access to the library services. - With a YSU library card, you can:
1.check out books, magazines
2.place holds and access your account online
3.access library databases from YSU
4.Order articles and read eBooks
5.use the Library's public computers and Internet - Library cards are available for free to students and YSU staff.
- Library cards are valid for one year and can be renewed by visiting Library.
- If your card has expired, you can access your account but you can't place holds, renew items or check out any material.
- If your library card is lost report it immediately to a desk librarian.

Access to RSL Dissertations
It is possible to access the Digital Dissertations of the Russian State Library in № 603 Reading Room on the VI floor.
Users can browse digital dissertations and abstracts, as well as read full texts online.
In order to secure from unauthorized copying, a secure document viewer is designed, which allows users to get access to existing electronic materials page by page, but does not allow to copy the material.

How to use the Library Catalog
Library Catalog is a register of all bibliographic items found in YSU library.
Quick search
The Search function enables you to find records by entering keywords or phrases. To perform any search, click on SEARCH from the menu bar. From the drop-down box click on author, in the search box enter an author’s name (ex. Shiraz) and then click on Search. The Results List shows how many records satisfy your query specifications. Each record in a Results List is sequentially numbered. When you find the title that you want, click on available numbered link for the full catalog record. Alternatively, you can choose title or subject from the drop-down box, enter a title or subject, and click on Search for a list of titles.
Placing a Reservation (HOLD)
You can reserve items which are on depository shelf by placing a 'hold' on an item:
Login using the Sign-in system or enter your Library Number and Passward
Search the catalog for the item you want
Find the specific item you want in the list of search results
Click on "Shelf Locations" to expand that information tab
Select the "University of Bath" link from the locations tab
You should be taken to a detailed record view of the item you are looking for
then select the Place Hold button
If all copies of the item are shown as being on loan, click on Place Hold (on the right hand menu) to start the login process
Follow the instructions on the Library Catalogue for placing a hold on an item on the screen.
